The John Ewing Company was founded in 1946 as a manufacturer of animal feed. It operates today, as it has for most of its existence, from the town of LaSalle, Colorado, in a rich agricultural region near Greeley, about an hour north of Denver.

With the creation of Formula 707 in the early 70s, the John Ewing Company became a major player in the equine nutritional supplements market and today manufactures an entire line of Formula 707 horse health products.

Also available from the John Ewing Company are a full line of vitamins and supplements for small pets under the NutraPet brand, and a line of human vitamins and supplements including the famous Action Tabs under the Cowboy Smart label.
